'Mastermind' behind Kim Kardashian robbery admits he has zero remorse: 'She was throwing money away'

The alleged mastermind behind Kim Kardashian's Paris jewellery heist has revealed he has zero remorse about robbing the reality star at gunpoint.

Yunis Abbas – one of the elderly men who was arrested in relation to the burglary – made the surprise admission in a new interview with VICE News.

Abbas discussed how he and 11 other men stormed Kardashian's Paris apartment in 2016, tied her up and held her at gunpoint before running off with $US10 million ($14 million) worth of jewellery, including her 20-carat Lorraine Schwartz diamond engagement ring from then-husband Kanye West that was worth a cool $US4 million ($5.8 million).

Kim Kardashian famously flaunted her 20-carat engagement ring hours before the heist in 2016.

However, Abbas says he can sleep easy about robbing the mum-of-four because she has plenty of money. He even claimed the heist was essentially Kardashian's fault as she was flaunting her wealth all over social media.

"I went on the internet, and it's true, I saw her jewellery, I saw her ring, I saw that she showed it everywhere, and we knew this information through social media," Abbas recalled.

"Since she was throwing money away, I was there to collect it, and that was that. Guilty? No, I don't care, I don't care."

The life-changing ordeal left Kardashian rattled. The star retreated from the spotlight for a few months and it took many months before she was comfortable talking about the incident in a public forum.

Recalling the moment the robbers burst into her Paris apartment at 2:30am on October 3, 2016, she explained on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that she believed "100 per cent" she would die that night.

"Automatically, your stomach drops. It's a feeling you can't even explain. Like, I knew that was it for me. I said a prayer, like, 'I know I'm going to heaven. I hope my kids are OK, and my husband,'" Kardashian recalled on the program one year after the heist.

"But it does happen really fast. It was a good seven or eight minutes of torture, but when I look back and I analyse it, I'm like, 'OK, they weren't aggressive.' It could have been way worse, so I don't want to sound like I'm not grateful. I'm out, I'm home, I'm safe, I'm such a better person – it's OK. Let's move on."
