Liam Gallagher has said he won’t be attending the BRIT Awards this weekend.

The Oasis frontman was asked by a fan if he would be going to this year’s ceremony, where his brother and bandmate Noel will collect the Songwriter Of The Year award.

“I’m not I can’t be around those ITV c***s,” he responded, hitting out at the channel that’ll broadcast the event live this Saturday (February 28).

The remark about the BRITS came as LG told his followers that Oasis “don’t need another award”, adding: “It’ll only go to our heads.” He also explained that he “just can’t be arsed with all that bollocks”.

These comments were in response to Oasis’ Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame nomination yesterday (Wednesday February 25). When asked if he would attend the ceremony, should the band be inducted, he replied: “Obv go collect it and tell the panel of judges how lovely they all look thank all the fans that voted for us and wreck the gaff.”

In a later tweet, he wrote: “I’m just not feeling this RnR hall of fame thing is that a fucking crime.” An earlier post read: “OK I’ll come clean I’m not going to the BRITs I was winding you up I’m sorry please forgive me.”

Earlier this month, Liam was asked whether he’d seen the news of Noel’s Songwriter Of The Year win at the BRITs. He responded: “I did he deserves it he’s [a] very talented young man.” He said in another post that he was “so proud” of his brother.

LG suggested at the time that he could be attending the BRITs. “If he asks me nicely I might give [Noel] the award,” he wrote. However, he subsequently said he had “SPIRITUAL stuffs to do that wknd [sic]”.

Some fans have been speculating that Oasis could make a surprise appearance at this weekend’s BRITs to mark Noel winning his new award. The musician recently fuelled rumours of new music from the band, too, by revealing that he was currently “in the studio”.

Liam last performed at the BRITs in 2022, when he showcased his solo single ‘Everything’s Electric’. In 2018, he was nominated for British Male Solo Artist but lost out to Stormzy.

The BRITs ’26 will take place at the Co-op Live in Liam and Noel’s home city of Manchester, moving from the ceremony’s usual home of London’s O2.

In a recent interview, Noel responded to the controversy surrounding his award, given that he hasn’t released any new music in the past 12 months. “If anybody’s got a problem with it, meet me there,” he said. “We’ll have it out on the red carpet.”

He also said: “I haven’t written a song for two years. I’m not sure how I’ve got away with that one, but I’ll take it.”

Recalling a conversation with his younger brother about this year’s BRITs, Noel explained: “Our kid was like, ‘I’m not going’. I was like, ‘Well I’ll have to go then, I suppose’.”

At the final Live ’25 Oasis concert in São Paulo, Brazil, last November, Liam told the crowd: “We love you, thanks for all your energy. Take care of yourselves, and we’ll see you again sometime.”

A new film documenting the band’s return and comeback tour is in the works, produced by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight. According to reports, the project will contain some “phenomenal” footage of Liam and Noel’s first meeting ahead of their massive live shows.

In other news, the frontman has revealed that he’s “been asked” to appear in the next season of The Celebrity Traitors.
