Music in the 1980s is closely associated with pop artists like Cyndi Lauper, new wave acts like Depeche Mode, or hair-metal à la Bon Jovi. The arrival of MTV also heralded the dawn of the mega-star, the likes of Madonna and Michael Jackson, and a golden age of one-hit wonders, acts who flashed briefly before fading into obscurity, resurrected only as answers to pub trivia questions (take your pick: A-ha, Falco, Dexys Midnight Runners, A Flock of Seagulls,Baltimora...). Yet there's a trend in the music landscape of the 1980s that largely goes unnoticed: the resurgence of classic rock acts from the 60s and 70s. But why?
