The two loves of Keith Urban's life before Nicole Kidman entered the fold

News of Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman's split has rocked the celebrity, shocking many who believed the golden couple – who were married for almost two decades and welcomed two daughters – seemed destined to be together forever.

But it wasn't in the stars for them, with Kidman officially filing for divorce from the country music star last week. 

The duo were a package deal for almost 20 years, but before their whirlwind love story they both found love with other people.

Kidman held a number of high-profile relationships that were regularly in the public eye, including her famous marriage and ultimate divorce with Tom Cruise. 

While Urban's love life was more low-key in the public eye, he publicly dated two other women – one of whom went on to warn that his relationship with the actress would not "last very long".

Laura Sigler

Urban had an on-again, off-again relationship throughout the '90s with veterinary technician Laura Sigler.

It was the country music star's first public relationship but little is known about their romance.

It is believed the pair were together for around eight years and some publications have reported they lived together for a period in the late '90s.

After their split, Sigler spoke out on a few occasions about Urban and his romance tendencies. 

"Nicole and Keith might date for a while, but it won't last very long," she told The Mail in 2006 as Kidman and Urban began their romance.

Niki Taylor

After his split from Sigler, Urban went on to date American model Niki Taylor for a number of years, often appearing at events together.

During their relationship, the pair got matching tattoos with the words "amor vincit omnia" (which is Latin for "love conquers all").

Their romance eventually came to an end in 2004, after which they both had their tattoos covered up.

"His career got really busy, I got really busy and we never saw each other," Taylor told People after the split.

Soon after Urban's split from Taylor, he found love with Kidman after meeting at the G'Day USA gala in Los Angeles. 

The pair tied the knot in June 2006 and later welcomed their daughters, Sunday Rose, 27, and Faith Margaret, 14, together.

In June this year, the pair marked 19 years married with Kidman sharing a tribute to Urban on Instagram, writing, "Happy Anniversary Baby ❤️ @KeithUrban."

Last week, news broke that the pair have split.

The separation was first reported by TMZ, with sources claiming the stars have been living apart since the beginning of the Northern Hemisphere summer.

Soon after, Kidman officially filed for divorce.
