Who doesn't love an elaborate proposal?

Celebrities aren't that much different from us – they also love over-the-top romantic proposals, but they have the cash it takes to pull it off.

From renting out an entire stadium to proposing after winning an Emmy, here are some of the best and most elaborate ways celebrities have popped the question.

Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco 

The music producer behind some of the biggest pop hits in the past two decades, Benny Blanco, popped the question to actress and pop star Selena Gomez in a very private – but expensive – way.

While the couple have not specified exactly how it happened, pictures posted to Instagram show an entire fake park set up on a sound stage with a picnic blanket.

Gomez's favourite food – Taco Bell – is also pictured in the scene.

The producer popped the question in December 2024, with Gomez taking to Instagram to post a photo of the massive rock he bought for her, as well as the engagement setup.

While we don't know how much the proposal cost, we know the marquise-cut diamond ring would have cost anything from $200,000 to over $1 million.

The couple revealed on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon that the proposal almost didn't happen.

"We had to do a lot of promo for the album," Gomez said.

"I woke up, I was very confused about what was happening and where we were going because it was too far."

"She was mad, she almost didn't come, she was like 'I don't feel that well can't we make up the shoot another day'... I was freaking out," Blanco added.

"Getting engaged to someone is the craziest thing in the world, right before you're going to tell someone you're gonna be married forever, it's like 'show me how good you can lie to me'."

Sophia Richie and Elliot Grainge

This beautiful engagement took place at the luxurious Four Seasons Hotel in Hualalai, Hawaii.

Grainge dropped a knee in a stunning set-up, surrounded by candles and flower petals, with an incredible view behind the pair.

The hotel costs anywhere from $2,000 to $5,000 a night.

Richie posted the moment to her Instagram with the caption "Forever isn't long enough." 

The pair's family and friends were there when Grainge popped the question.

The proposal, which took place in April 2022, is one of the most beautiful we have seen!

Rebel Wilson and Ramona Agruma

The Aussie actress popped the question to her partner Ramona Agruma at a reserved area at Disneyland California, after getting the go-ahead from Disney CEO Bob Iger.

"I had to get special permission to get a special area roped off and get the topiary trees in, and you know I had a violinist playing like Disney classics," she said on The Drew Barrymore Show.

"It was very, it was really romantic."

The Disney Weddings proposal packages range between $15,000 and $100,000, especially if couples wish to get engaged in the coveted Sleeping Beauty Castle forecourt, which is where Wilson proposed.

"It was such a huge thing in my life, and then we went on this new ride, and I go, 'Hang on, I just have to, like, (pause)' and I literally collapsed on the floor for five minutes."

Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker

Kourtney Kardashian is the most recent of the famous sisters to get engaged and tie the knot.

Her rock star boyfriend, now husband, Travis Barker, planned an adorable proposal fit for a Kardashian.

The pair walked along the beach before coming to a massive rose arrangement in the shape of a heart.

There was even a combined T and K initial made out of roses in the middle of the red rose heart.

A few days after the proposal, the eldest Kardashian sister posted pictures of the engagement to Instagram with the caption, "I woke up all night thinking it was a dream."

The proposal was also included in The Kardashians on Disney+.

It's estimated the roses alone cost Barker between $29,500, while the ring set him back about $500,000.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West 

What do you get the girl who has everything? An entire stadium and live orchestra.

Although Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are no longer together, the now disgraced rapper's proposal to the social media mogul will forever remain one of the most elaborate and romantic proposals of all time.

West rented out an entire stadium and hired a live orchestra to propose to Kardashian, with the words "Please Marry Me" flashing onto the Jumbotron while the orchestra played music.

It's estimated that the proposal cost West an eye-watering $200,000. 

He also got her a massive ring, worth anywhere between $1.2 million to $8 million.

The entire event was filmed and aired in the ninth season of Keeping up with the Kardashians.

John Stamos and Caitlin McHugh

Although it didn't cost him over $200,000, John Stamos' proposal to his now-wife, Caitlin McHugh, was extravagant for other reasons.

The full house star proposed to his Disney-obsessed partner with the help of Disney CEO Bob Iger.

The CEO emailed Stamos asking him if McHugh was a "Disney Geek" one month before the proposal at Disneyland took place.

Iger and Stamos' friend, Paul Briggs, who works as an animator at Disney, helped Stamos pull off the engagement of a lifetime.

"[Briggs] helped me cut together a little movie of all the most romantic moments of the Disney and Pixar Animation [films]," Stamos shared in a 2017 interview with People magazine.

"It was pretty special."

McHugh shared the news on her Instagram, posting a picture of the couple post-engagement with the caption: "Kissed the boy and said...yes!"

"That's what you do when the sweetest, most romantic Prince Charming treats you like a princess and asks you to be his."

Ludacris and Eudoxie Mbouguiengue

Rapper Ludacris proposed and got married on the same day – yes, you read that right!

The singer proposed to his now-wife on a private jet. The plane flew over a field that had the words "Eudoxie will you marry me?" projected onto the ground.

If the $3000 an hour price tag for the jet isn't extravagant enough for you, the pair then got married on the exact same day, in a private and intimate wedding ceremony. 

They revealed that the wedding had happened on the same day as the proposal a few weeks after the event, in a post to Mbouguiyengue's Instagram.

"Great way to go into the new year!"

Ludacris' representative also confirmed the wedding to the media at the time.

Glen Weiss and Jan Svendsen

Does it get much better than getting engaged right after you win an Emmy Award?

Although it didn't cost anything, this is the sweetest and swoon-worthiest engagement on this list.

When Weiss won the Emmy for directing the Oscars telecast, he decided to use his speech to propose to his partner of 10 years, Jan Svendsen.

"You wonder why I don't like to call you my Girlfriend? It's because I want to call you my wife," he said from the stage, looking right at Svendsen.

She appeared visually shocked as the entire Emmy's audience - full of Hollywood's biggest stars - erupted into applause and cheers.

Svendsen said yes from her seat, then made her way to the stage as Weiss said "I didn't ask yet."

When she finally got there, he gave an impassioned speech to his partner, saying: "This is the ring that my dad put on my mum's finger 67 years ago... Jan, I wanna put this ring that my mum wore on your finger."

"In front of all these people, and in front of my mum and your parents watching from above, will you marry me?"

She said yes through tears, and the pair embraced.
