Hughesy 'nearly got into a punch on' in the stands at Wimbledon

Dave "Hughesy" Hughes has revealed he was involved in a fight at the Wimbledon Championships.

Posting to Instagram, the Aussie TV star shared a video of himself and his teenage son Rafferty in the stands.

He explained in the video captioned "Nearly got into a punch on at Wimbledon" that he and his son were on court 15 watching Aussie tennis star Jordan Thompson's win.

He said that it was a "very small court, and this English bloke behind us just would not shut up for right through the match.

"Eventually I said, 'Mate, can you just be quiet?' And Raf, what did he call me?"

His son cut in to share that the man called his dad "a little Hitler", with Hughesy saying the label was "hurtful".

Rafferty thought the name-calling was a "bit of an overreaction".

The radio star continued, "Everyone around us was happy that I did it," before exclaiming, "What is it with entitled English wankers?!"

He explained further in his caption, "Three rows of seating on court 15, within metres of the players, tense fifth set, and this English bloke would not stop loudly talking to his friend as if he was down at his local boozer.

"When I eventually told him to pipe down, he was livid, real 'how dare you tell me what to do you Aussie scum' vibe . He called me 'Little Hitler'.

"But after a long, very tense back and forth, he zipped it and everyone was happy, except him."

Fans and friends praised Hughesy, with TV star Regina Sorensen writing in the caption, "Go you good thing."

Rebel Wilson and Ramona Agruma at Wimbledon

One commenter claimed, "I was the row in front of you and was cheering you on! Love that you didn't back down!! Crowd totally had your back! …he hardly said a word rest of the match!!"

Comedian Rove McManus replied to the video with a hilarious quip, "Good to know your fans are everywhere."

They're not the only Aussies enjoying the British tennis championships. The father and son were joined by Rebel Wilson, her wife Ramona Agruma, Cate Blanchett, Isla Fisher, and Russell Crowe.
