Drew Barrymore is standing by her controversial TV move amid the ongoing writer's strike.Â
The 50 First Dates actress has defended her decision to resume her talk show, The Drew Barrymore Show, while Hollywood's WGA strike continues.Â
The Blended actress, 48, posted a statement on Monday to Instagram addressing the show's return for season four after it wrapped in April.

"I own this choice," she told her 17.3 million followers. "We are in compliance with not discussing or promoting film and television that is struck of any kind."
Last week, Barrymore announced on the show's official Instagram handle that production would premiere on September 18th.
"Big news! 🎉 We're kicking off our brand new season on Monday, September 18th. What do you want to see in Season 4?!" the caption read.
This isn't the first difficult period the talk show has had to navigate after first premiering back in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"I want to be there to provide what writers do so well, which is a way to bring us together or help us make sense of the human experience," she explained.Â
Barrymore concluded her lengthy statement by sharing her hope for the Hollywood strike to be resolved "for everyone as soon as possible."

The statement comes after Barrymore pulled out of her hosting duties at the MTV awards in May in accordance with the strike guidelines.Â
Barrymore explained that her role "had a direct conflict with what the strike was dealing with which was studios, streamers, film, and television."
"It was also in the first week of the strike and so I did what I thought was the appropriate thing at the time to stand in solidarity with the writers."

The actress' change in tune has received criticism from the Writers Guild of America, East, who have since posted a statement to X, formerly known as Twitter.
The Writers Guild confirmed that Barrymore's show will return for its upcoming season without writers working on the production.Â
"The Guild has, and will continue to, picket struck shows that are in production during the strike," they Guild shared.Â
"Any writing on The Drew Barrymore Show is in violation of WGA strike rules."
