Honoring the late, great Toby Keith.
The ACM Awards are this Thursday evening, and of course, it wouldn't be right to put on the show without a tribute to Keith.
His friend, Jason Aldean, will do the honors, sharing on his social media accounts that he will honor the country legend with a performance of "Should’ve Been A Cowboy." Of course, Keith’s signature song was his debut single back in 1993 and included on his self-titled debut album.
His whole country music career took off very quickly after “Should’ve Been A Cowboy” peaked at #1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Song chart, and it has more than three million spins on country radio too, which makes it the most-played country song of the 1990’s (and rightfully so).
The country legend sadly passed away on February 5th after a two-year battle with stomach cancer, and we previously saw Brooks & Dunn flop with their tribute at the CMT Music Awards in April, so I have hope Aldean can at least get all the words right during his performance (yeah, I know that's a really low bar):
"Honored to pay tribute to my friend, the one and only Toby Keith, with a special performance of 'Should've Been A Cowboy' at the ACM Awards.
Join me as we celebrate his legacy and the mark he left on country music."

The 59th ACM Awards will be livestreamed live at The Star in Frisco, Texas exclusively on Prime Video this Thursday, May 16th at 8:00 PM EDT. The show will be hosted by Reba, who is also set to perform.
