After 17 years of attending the ACM Awards and vying for the coveted Entertainer of the Year award, Miranda Lambert finally took home top honors last night.
She’s the most decorated ACM artist in history, and now she has the crown jewel of awards to go along with her 37 ACMs in-total now. She also won an award for Video of the Year for her song with Elle King, “Drunk (And I Don’t Wanna Go Home).”
And her friend and fellow badass country music lady, Carrie Underwood, said to press after the show that Miranda taking home EOTY was long overdue… preach it, Carrie:
“It’s always wonderful when, ‘cuz there are so many incredibly talented women in the genre, and Miranda’s long overdue for winning this award.
So I couldn’t be more proud of her as a sister in this genre of music, in this industry. So yeah, I mean there were a lot of incredible females on stage tonight, and I look forward to more of that happening.”
You absolutely love to see these two women supporting each other, especially considering all the years they were the only two women at the top of mainstream country and held their own for years during the horrific bro-country era.
But now, with Carly Pearce, Lainey Wilson, and Ashley McBryde really coming into their own, the future of women in country music is as promising as ever.
I love everything about this video
Perfect for #InternationalWomensDay too

Carrie also took home a trophy last night, winning the award for Single of the Year for “If I Didn’t Love You,” her duet with Jason Aldean.
And can we just talk about all of her looks for a second?
She was easily one of the best-dressed artists at the night, and that holographic tinsel dress is to die for. Only she could pull off something like that:
“If I Didn’t Love You”
