With the ACM Awards coming up on Monday, we’ve been taking a look back at some of the most memorable moments in the shows history.
From Travis Tritt and actor Joe Pesci performing together in 1992, to Ashton Kutcher looking like a clown in 2012 and Alan Jackson’s hilarious middle finger to the show’s producers back in 1994, there have been some good times on the show throughout the years.
And while Miranda Lambert throwing shade at Blake Shelton’s native Oklahoma back in 2019 was hilarious and I absolutely loved it, she had a much more serious moment at the 2010 ACM Awards show when she performed her mega hit, “The House That Built Me”.
The song, written by Tom Douglas and Allen Shamblin, was originally intended for Blake Shelton to record. But once Miranda heard it for the first time on a CD demo he played, it resonated so deeply that she knew she had to record it herself.
She included it as third single from her 2009 third studio album, Revolution, where it eventually peaked at #1 U.S. Billboard US Hot Country Songs chart and remains the fastest-rising single of her career.
She won three ACM’s at that 2010 show, including one for Female Vocalist of the Year, Album of the Year for Revolution and Video of the Year for “White Liar”. The following year, she won three more ACM’s for “The House That Built Me”, including Song of the Year, Single of the Year, and Video of the Year.
It’s still one of my favorite songs of all time, there’s just somethin’ about the stripped back production and simplicity of Miranda’s performance here that’ll still bring a tear to your eye almost 10 years later.
The emotion in her voice is palpable, and she even received a standing ovation from the whole audience of her peers at the end… it’s that damn good:
Yellowstone’s Luke Grimes And Kelsey Asbille To Present At The ACM Awards
I have two whole reasons to watch the ACM Awards next week…
Dolly Parton and Yellowstone star Luke Grimes (AKA Kayce Dutton).
Luke will present with his on-screen wife, Kelsey Asbille (Monica Dutton), and though it will probably add up to less than 30 seconds of TV time, I’ll take it:

Of course, the irony is that Yellowstone would never feature 90% of the artists nominated at the ACM Awards this year, but hey, that’s why it’s the best soundtrack on television.
It’s also very on brand for the ACMs to invite the actors from the show but not artists on the soundtrack that make actual country music. I digress…
In addition to Luke and Kelsey, they just announced the rest of the presenters, including Mickey Guyton, Alan Ritchson, Derek Carr, Guy Torry, Jason Aldean, Tom Pelphrey and James Patterson (who’s gearing up to released a book with ACM’s host Dolly Parton).
The show is this coming Monday, March 7th, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas and will stream exclusively on Amazon Prime.
