Zendaya Says It’s Been Special To Have Grown Up With Tom Holland

Can you believe we’re about to witness the end of another Spider-Man trilogy? Spider-Man: No Way Home hits theaters this December, bringing to a close the trio of films that kicked off with 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. Though fans seem pretty confident that we’ll see more of Tom Holland’s Peter Parker, Sony and Marvel’s plans for where the wallcrawler will go next have yet to be revealed, so it’s feasible that this could be it.

If it is, Zendaya – who plays Peter’s love interest M.J. – couldn’t be happier with the experience she’s had in the MCU so far. Speaking with E!’s Daily Pop, the actress revealed that she’s “grateful” for her time in the Spidey franchise as she explained that it’s been “pretty special” to grow up with her co-stars, like Holland and Jacob Batalon, over the course of these movies. However, the uncertainty over what’s next made shooting No Way Home “bittersweet.”

“We were all just absorbing and taking the time to just enjoy the moment, being with each other and being so grateful for that experience,” Zendaya shared. “It’s pretty special to have grown up all together.” The star added that filming Spider-Man 3 was “kind of bittersweet” since they still “don’t know if we’re gonna do another one.”

Zendaya

The friendship between Holland and Zendaya has always been beloved by the fans, just as much as Peter and M.J.’s relationship is popular on screen. And there’s been a lot of speculation of late that the pair’s friendship has blossomed into a romance in real life, too, echoing the journey of their characters. Earlier this month, paparazzi photos snapped Holland and Zendaya kissing in Holland’s car outside of Zendaya’s mother’s house. The duo have yet to officially comment on whether their an item or not, though.

If they are dating, they wouldn’t be the first Spider-Man love interests to be a couple IRL, after The Amazing Spider-Man‘s Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone. Peter and Gwen Stacy’s love story infamously ended in tragedy, however, in TASM 2. But hopefully Holland’s Peter and Zendaya‘s M.J. will make it out of Spider-Man: No Way Home OK when the threequel lands in theaters this December 17th.
