With 'Jay Kelly,' Noah Baumbach Tackles the Concept of Legacy — Including His Own

It’s interesting that part of the inspiration for the title character in NoahBaumbach’s Jay Kelly (written by Baumbach and EmilyMortimer, which is on Netflix as you’re reading this) came from a posthumous memoir about PaulNewman in which Newman reveals he feels he lost his name. “Paul Newman” has a life of its own that goes beyond the person, and Baumbach wanted to explore how this can happen to a famous actor.
