At the end of the life of The Vampire Diaries, the young adult romance went out with a whisper and not a bang. The final series, Legacies, was cancelled after four seasons in a mass culling by The CW. While tragic, co-creator Julie Plec wasn’t about to rest on her laurels. Her next order of business was to adapt the equally iconic book series, Vampire Academy. Developed for Peacock, the series offered a more fantastical take on the supernatural than the horror-adjacent The Vampire Diaries.
