This weekend is a big one when it comes to what’s new on streaming. Now we’re deep in the summer movie season, we’re getting at least one major new film release dropping each week. Or, in this case, two. A sequel 25 years in the making finally debuts this Friday, along with the final chapter in a unique trilogy that’s been gripping the internet all month. Let’s take a look at everything hitting Netflix, Disney Plus, HBO Max, Hulu and Amazon Prime this weekend.
First of all, Netflix premieres Fear Street Part 3: 1666, the epic conclusion to the Fear Street horror trilogy. After starting in the 1990s and rewinding to the 1970s in the previous two entries, this third film travels to the 1600s as we finally learn the full truth about the witch hunt that started the evil plaguing Shadyside. Also debuting today are all five installments in the Twilight saga.
Disney Plus, meanwhile, offers up We Bought a Zoo, a family comedy-drama from 2010 starring Matt Damon and Scarlett Johansson. Today also brings McCartney 3,2, 1, a new Hulu documentary film exploring the life and career of the legendary Paul McCartney. Prime has a pretty quiet weekend this time around, but you can catch season 2 of reality show Making the Cut.
HBO Max wins the crown for biggest release of the weekend, though. Alongside its theatrical debut, Space Jam: A New Legacy is available to stream from today. Coming a quarter of a century after the first Looney Tunes/NBA crossover, A New Legacy sees LeBron James teaming up with Bugs Bunny and company as they journey through the Warner Bros. multiverse to rescue James’ son from an evil A.I. (Don Cheadle).
