Dwayne Johnson Reportedly Making Joss Whedon’s Justice League Non-Canon

A while back, there was a flurry of speculation coming in from all corners that Dwayne Johnson was set to single-handedly restore the SnyderVerse, riding to the rescue in the DCEU’s hour of need and resurrecting the mythology that fans were beginning to mourn after Warner Bros. made it clear that Zack Snyder’s Justice League marked the end of the line.

The actor has now finished shooting on Black Adam, but we’re still waiting on confirmation as to whether it even operates as official franchise canon, never mind the prospect of the cosmic epic going against the express wishes of the studio by directly tying it to a series of films they’ve already moved past.

However, tipster Mikey Sutton continues to double down on the notion that The Rock has made Black Adam exactly the way he wanted to, and is now claiming that Henry Cavill could show up wearing the black Superman suit from the Snyder Cut, thus eliminating Joss Whedon’s theatrical version from continuity and establishing HBO Max’s Justice League as the lead-in to the rest of the upcoming slate.

Obviously, this is nowhere near being confirmed by either Johnson, Cavill or Warner Bros., so it’s best not to get too hyped until details are made public. WB are notoriously hands-on when overseeing their comic book properties, and the thought of Black Adam‘s leading man deliberately vetoing any instructions and spending hundreds of millions of dollars in company funds to essentially flip them the bird and support the SnyderVerse would surely ruffle more than a few feathers.

As has always been the case, any talk of a Cavill cameo in Black Adam is something we’d love to see, but we wouldn’t bet the house on it quite yet.
