Bruce Campbell Teases His Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness Cameo

If Sam Raimi is involved with a movie, then there’s a strong chance that Bruce Campbell is also going to be a part of it. The duo have been friends for a long time, and their first creative collaboration came all the way back in 1977 when Raimi directed It’s Murder! while they were still college students, so the Evil Dead icons aren’t really trying to hide the fact that Campbell will be showing up in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

From almost the second Raimi was announced to be replacing Scott Derrickson at the helm of the Sorcerer Supreme’s second solo adventure, Campbell’s name started coming up. The actor has since teased his appearance on multiple occasions without outright confirming it, but it’s hardly a coincidence he just happened to be in England at the exact same time the Marvel Cinematic Universe blockbuster was shooting.

In a new interview, the 63 year-old was once again asked if he’s part of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and while he’s very careful with his words so as not to risk facing the wrath of his corporate overlords at Marvel and Disney, it’s pretty clear that we’ll be seeing him in some capacity.

“I would say that’s a pretty good rumor. I think that won’t get me sued. That’s a pretty good rumor, yeah. Look, I think it’s a standing rule that Sam Raimi, his movies are not good if I’m not in them. If Sam wants a good movie he’ll put me in it. But you never know with these epic movies what’s going to stay or go in the course of telling these huge stories, so I don’t know. That’s why I keep it cryptic because, A: I don’t want to get sued, but, B: I don’t want to say, ‘Yeah, hey, tune in!’, and then they go, ‘Where were you, idiot?’. But I always enjoy working with my old friend, Mr. Director.”

Raimi and Campbell are both executive producing Evil Dead Rise to further their partnership, even if they’re not involved either in front of or behind the camera, despite continued talk of an Ash cameo. The former has directed fifteen features in his career so far, with the latter showing up in eleven of them, so it stands to reason that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is all but guaranteed at this point to continue their fruitful friendship.
