With the 2025-26 awards season fast approaching, it's never a bad time to look at the Oscar winners and nominees from the past. However, they can't all be winners. Indeed, throughout history, the Academy has proven on repeated occasions that it can certainly make mistakes, and those mistakes have sometimes manifested themselves in the form of entirely undeserving performances being nominated for acting Oscars.
