Aubrey Plaza has broken her silence and issued a statement following the tragic death of her husband, Jeffrey Baena on January 3 at the age of 47.
The actress, 40, shared a joint statement with the Baena and Stern family, which described his death as an "unimaginable tragedy".
"This is an unimaginable tragedy," the statement began.

"We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support. Please respect our privacy during this time," they added.
Baena died at the age of 47 at his home in California, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner records, who reportedly ruled his official cause of death was by suicide.
Miami-born Baena, who married The White Lotus star Plaza in 2021, was a successful screenwriter and director known for works including Life After Beth and The Little Hours.
The couple began dating in 2011 and worked together on projects including Spin Me Around.

Following news of his death, fans and stars flocked to send their condolences to the actress, with many commenting publicly on her latest post on her Instagram account.
"No words can touch this painful time. Only love and strength and support from everyone. I am so sorry," actress Selma Blair commented underneath.
"Sending you so much love, [dove emoji]," Julia Fox commented.
"Stay strong Aubrey," a follower commented.
Plaza was set to present at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles on January 6 but understandably missed the awards following the shock news of her husband's death.

The Brutalist filmmaker Brady Corbet shared a touching tribute to Plaza and Baena's loved ones when he accepted an award on stage at the star-studded event.
Towards the end of his speech, the director shared a short and sweet message, saying: "Finally, tonight my heart is with Aubrey Plaza and Jeff's family."
Despite keeping their romance relatively under wraps previously, in 2021, Plaza shared a tribute to Baena to congratulate him on a project.
"So proud of my darling husband @jeffbaena for dreaming up another film that takes us to italia to cause some more trouble," she wrote in a post at the time to her million of followers.
The Parks and Recreation star previously said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that they got married during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"We got a little bored one night. We got married and I'll tell you how: Onehourmarriage.com. That's real, look it up," she reportedly said.

Plaza touched on her marriage when discussing her character Harper in The White Lotus.
"I've been with my husband for 12 years. I relate to being in a relationship that has peaks and valleys, and going through a rough patch and comparing yourself to another couple that seems perfect," she told the publication.
