There's a major Taylor Swift rumour circulating, and this one might actually have legs

Swifties, our time has come.

For the past few months, it's safe to say we've all been missing Taylor Swift.

She released her 11th album The Tortured Poets Department over a year ago and wrapped up her record-breaking Eras Tour five months ago, and she's been simply enjoying her free time ever since.

But, it's simply not enough.

While Swift is off enjoying her time (and money), we fans are begging for more, and we'll take anything – Reputation (Taylor's Version), Debut (Taylor's Version), we're even willing to settle for a whole new album at this point.

Swifties have been inspecting the singer's every move, frantic for any kind of clue to cling to some kind of hope Blondie has something in the works.

Now, finally after months of waiting, they have something.

Taylor Swift Eras Tour: Most memorable moments

It's important to note this could just be desperation talking and Swift actually has nothing planned, but Swifties have clowned before – and this time it feels different.

The running theory is that the Cruel Summer singer is going to announce an entirely new album at the American Music Awards (commonly referred to as the AMAs) at the end of May.

Why? Well, strap yourselves in, this is quite the ride.

So, fans have noticed something very peculiar about Swift's official online store in the US.

The site has been reorganised to now show a four option menu in the following order: Apparel, Music, Accessories, Sale.

If you look at the first letter of each of those words, they spell out AMAs, and we all know Blondie never does anything by coincidence.

But we're not done yet.

When you go into the Sale section, there are a total of 12 items on sale – potentially an Easter egg for Swift's 12th album?

And what's even weirder is that every item is discounted by 26 per cent, and what date are the AMAs? Yep, May 26.

If that's not enough to convince you we're getting TS12 in less than two weeks (and it should be), there's one final piece to the puzzle, and it's a big one.

Taylor Nation is Swift's management team's social account, and they've left us one major clue.

In a post encouraging fans to vote for Swift at the awards ceremony, they wrote, "And our town, it looks so sMall from wAy up here."

The above is a lyric from The Tortured Poets Department track thanK you aIMee, which is rumoured to be about Swift's feud with Kim Kardashion – especially as the random capitalisation spells out her name.

But the caption from Taylor Nation seems to have taken inspiration from thanK you aIMee not just in the sense it has used a lyric from the song, but the caption also features random capitalisation that, once again, spells out AMA.

So, it seems pretty safe to assume there's a high possibility Swift is going to make a big announcement at the upcoming awards ceremony, and while we don't know exactly what that announcement will be, the internet does have one theory.

Now, we'll admit this theory isn't exactly the strongest, but it's all we have to work with, OK?

Swift made a shock public appearance over the weekend, attending a Mother's Day brunch in Philadelphia with her partner Travis Kelce and his family.

The singer was pictured at the brunch wearing a black midi dress covered in daisies, which fans have instantly linked to a clue that Reputation (Taylor's Version) is imminent.

Not only is black a colour instantly associated with the 2017 album, but the daisies could be a link to an iconic lyric from the song Don't Blame Me, in which Swift sings, "I was once poison ivy, but now I'm your Daisy".

We'll be the first to admit it, it feels like a stretch. But, when you keep in mind Swift's trademark on Reputation (Taylor's Version) expires on August 16, there could be some merit to it.

All of this to say, our eyes will be glued to our screens during the American Music Awards.
