With a music career spanning more than two decades, amassing her an estimated net worth of more than $530 million, it is no surprise Katy Perry is a consummate professional.
While she would have been forgiven for taking to her bed the day multiple media outlets reported she and fiance Orlando Bloom had gone their separate ways after nine years together, Perry did what she does best – entertained a crowd at one of her sell-out concerts in Adelaide, South Australia.
But it is not the first time Perry had to mask her heartache in front of an audience, with the star previously taking to the stage just minutes after her former husband, Russell Brand, coldly texted her to say he was filing for divorce.

The Teenage Dream singer was at the height of her fame when she met the British comedian and actor while filming a cameo in his film Get Him to the Greek, which ended up being cut.
They reportedly crossed paths again at the MTV Video Music Awards in September 2009, which Brand was hosting, and by the end of the night, they were spotted making out at an after party.
Perry seemingly confirmed rumours they were dating two months later when she turned up at the MTV European Music Awards in a corset and shorts that featured the comedian's nickname 'Rusty' written on the bum.

By January 2010, the couple was engaged, with Us reporting Brand had proposed while they were in Jaipur, India.
They returned to India that October for a traditional Hindu wedding ceremony, but just one year later, reports emerged their marriage was in trouble.
Brand announced shortly after Christmas 2011 that the two had separated, and two months later, Perry embarked on her California Dreams world tour.

She was about to step on stage for a show in Glasgow, Scotland, on New Year's Eve 2011 when she received a text from Brand informing her he was filing for divorce.
The heartbreaking moment was captured by a film crew trailing Perry for the 2012 documentary Katy Perry: Part of Me.
Perry was shown collapsing in tears just before she was due to step on stage and lying on a chair backstage as her team watched on.

After only a few minutes, the devastated pop star wiped away her tears, put on a brave face and went on stage to perform for her fans.
While some reports suggest Perry cancelled a show planned for New Year's Day, this is not correct, however she did pull out of an appearance at the People's Choice Awards on January 11, 2012, telling fans in a Tweet she could not make it.
In a 2013 cover story for Vogue, Perry spoke out for the first time about that infamous text.
"Let's just say, I haven't heard from him since he texted me saying he was divorcing me on December 31, 2011," she said.

In the same interview, she revealed why the marriage didn't last and hinted she possessed a secret about Brand.
"At first when I met him he wanted an equal, and I think a lot of times strong men do want an equal, but then they get that equal and they're like, 'I can't handle the 'equalness'," she said.

"He didn't like the atmosphere of me being the boss on tour. So that was really hurtful, and it was very controlling, which was upsetting.
"I felt a lot of responsibility for it ending, but then I found out the real truth, which I can't necessarily disclose, because I keep it locked in my safe for a rainy day."
For his part, Brand once hinted that Perry's work schedule and fame, which he likened to being in the eye of a cyclone, played a part in the demise of the marriage.

Her work ethic and touring schedule also reportedly caused friction in her relationship with Orlando Bloom, the father of their four-year-old daughter Daisy.
But it was reportedly something else that sounded the final death knell for the relationship, which had reportedly been strained for some time.
Daily Mail columnist Maureen Callaghan told Nine's Today Extra the couple recently had a "huge blowout" argument that ended with Bloom telling Perry her recent flight into space was 'embarrassing' and 'cringeworthy' and that she 'looked ridiculous'.

Callaghan said Perry was "levelled to the ground" by his comments, and further claimed the singer's camp was suspicious Bloom was leaking news of their split ahead of the Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez's nuptials in Venice, Italy, so he could be a "single man" and "get with whoever he wants to at this wedding".
She said Perry's camp was also stung by the fact he would attend a wedding with the very people who were involved in her going into space.
Sánchez joined her on the expedition put together by Bezos's space exploration company Blue Horizon.

Callaghan said it appeared Bloom had won custody of at least one set of friends, Bezos and Sánchez.
Perry will tonight enjoy a night off from performing before she hits the stage again in Adelaide on Sunday and Monday evenings.
She then has 10 days off before resuming her The Lifetimes Tour in the US on July 10.
