The Pitt came out on top at the 2025 Emmy Awards.
The hit series was nominated on Sunday, September 14, in categories including Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for Noah Wyle, Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for Katherine LaNasa, Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series and Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series.
HBO Max’s hit series walked away with three trophies for Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
The Pitt, which premiered in January, highlighted the highs and lows of working in emergency medicine with an unconventional approach — 15 episodes that each showcase one hour of one (extra-long) 15-hour shift.

The medical drama ultimately turned into weekly appointment viewing and marked Wyle’s second successful medical series. ER, which aired from 1994 to 2009, followed the inner life of an emergency room in a fictionalized version of Chicago’s real Cook County Hospital. Wyle starred alongside George Clooney, Julianna Marguiles, Anthony Edwards, Eriq La Salle and Sherry Stringfield (and later John Stamos, Mekhi Phifer and Linda Cardellini).
More than a decade after ER ended, Wyle returned as the star and executive producer of The Pitt. One month after its debut, The Pitt won over fans and critics alike and earned itself a second season, which is expected to premiere in January 2026. The next installment will be set months later during the 4th of July weekend.

Before season 1 came to an end, star Isa Briones applauded The Pitt for its medical accuracy.
“The 10 of us doctors all got medical boot camp for two weeks before we started filming, which was so helpful,” Briones, 26, exclusively told Us Weekly in February. “On set, we always have [technical advisor] Dr. Joe Sachs — he’s there all the time.”
She added: “[They] cycle through every episode. So a different doctor is assigned to every episode and they handle choreographing all of the big trauma scenes — anything that involves medical choreography. But the boot camp was so helpful because it’s not like they can teach us how to be a doctor in two weeks, obviously. But it gave us the tools and gave us the language of the right questions to ask when we are actually choreographing something like that.”

Briones didn’t realize the scope of knowledge that would come in handy, adding, “I have these lines but where am I looking when I’m saying the stats? A boot camp gave us that general knowledge of who we’re talking to, what it’s about and what different things mean.”
The actress expressed gratitude for the experience that helped shape her approach to the role.
“We got to learn how to suture, how to intubate and how to do a pericardiocentesis — all these crazy things,” Briones told Us. “We also have nurses on set at all times who are also playing nurses in the show. They provide constant [support] because we would be falling on our faces if they weren’t there with us.”
