The stars of Squid Game are in the Big Apple!
Lee Jung-jae and HoYeon Jung walked the red carpet together at the 2021 Gotham Awards on Monday night (November 29) at Cipriani Wall Street in new York City.
Jung-jae plays Seong Gi-hun (aka #456) while HoYeon plays Kang Sae-byeok (aka #067). They were joined at the event by series creator and director Hwang Dong-hyuk.
The show is nominated for Breakthrough Series – Long Format and Jung-jae is up for Outstanding Performance in a New Series.
On the red carpet, the director talked about Squid Game‘s success and how it will change the landscape for international television.

“Unlike films, it’s not very usual for people to watch a TV series with subs or dubs. So I think Squid Game played a role in bringing down that barrier, and as a creator I’m very proud to have played a role in that,” he said.
