Biopics have been the toast of the town for a long time now. Every year we have several biopics on known names and some unsung heroes. This week cricketer Sourav Ganguly confirmed that a biopic on his life is on cards and but he can’t reveal more details. As soon as this news broke out masses went crazy and speculations about the lead hero also sprung up.

E Times got to know that in 2018 when there were rumours of Sourav Ganguly’s biopic and the cricketer was in talks with some production house, the cricketer wanted director Srijit Mukherji to helm it. E Times got in touch with the director and got to know more about this. The filmmaker agrees that in 2018 Ganguly wanted him as a director but with the current project, he has no clue if he’s donning the director’s hat, “There was a plan in place in 2018 and we had met a lot of producers. But, because Sourav was very busy with his cricket commitment no deal came through.”

He further even adds by saying that he has no clue whether he will be the first choice today to direct it, “I really have no idea who will direct the biopic now and who will play the lead role. During our discussions we did not speak about who could play his role in the biopic.” Guess we need to wait for more details.

Ranbir Kapoor is said to be leading the race so far when it comes to casting the male lead. Ranbir Kapoor is one of the finest actors in Bollywood and with what he did with Sanju (2018) we know that the portrayal will be in safe hands.
