Sophie Turner claims she ended a celebrity engagement with one gesture

Sophie Turner has revealed that she believes she accidentally broke off a celebrity couple's engagement

Speaking with Seth Meyers in a recent episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers, the Game of Thrones star recalled attending a San Diego Comic Con after party years ago that "went south really quick".

"I really can't name names or I'll get in a lot of trouble, but I brought my best friend from my school days with me and she saw this actor that she loved."

Turner, who played Sansa Stark in the fantasy series, recalled her friend asking her to greet the actor.

"I didn't know this actor," she admitted, so instead she simply waved in his direction.

"Later on, I see this girl looking at me and she's a famous actress. I was like, 'Oh I have to go and tell her how much she means to me."

But when she went over to the actress, who she didn't name, Turner received an unexpected greeting.

"So, I dance on over and she goes, 'Can you stop f---ing flirting with my fiance?" Turner recalled.

She then asked, "Who's your fiance?" then the actress pointed towards the actor Turner had waved at.

Turner added that she had "no idea who this man is" but it seems that didn't matter.

"Turns out, I think they broke their engagement off that night because of my [wave]," she revealed.

"I didn't realise I held this power," she quipped.

At another point in her chat with Meyers, Turner alluded to her own split from her ex-husband Joe Jonas as she opened up about what was going on in her personal life as she filmed her new movie Trust.

"I'm not sure if anyone's aware but when I started shooting this movie, I was going through, like, a media hell," Turner said.

"So this was super cathartic because I wanted to run away in my real life when that was all happening," she added.

"But I got to do it in a movie and I got to smash some s--- up so that was fun."

Jonas was the first to file for divorce from Turner in September 2023, claiming their four-year marriage was "irretrievably broken."

Jonas and Turner's divorce was finalised in September last year.
