Dilip Kumar passed away on July 7 and left everyone bereaved. The actor was survived by his wife Saira Banu and the actress still continues to have guests and relatives visiting her residence to offer their condolences. The actress has now in a very special way decided to thank some people for giving her husband a state funeral honour.
Saira Banu and the late Dilip Kumar’s residence in Bandra now has a board specially put up outside. This board thanks certain people for the final rites of her husband. The actress has thanked Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Sharad Pawar, Aditya Thackeray, Sachin Ahir, residents of Pali Hill and the Mumbai police for all their help and support. Now that’s indeed a sweet gesture by the actress. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had even visited Saira Banu last Wednesday before the final rites could take place, to offer his condolences.
Saira Banu has signed the board as Mrs Dilip Kumar and not with her own name. Talking about the same, a while ago she had spoken to TOI about using her husband’s name, “In all humility, I feel I am doing what most women in India do. That’s a virtue we are endowed with in our upbringing by our parents. I don’t know what to say when I’m complimented for the care and attention I give to Saheb. It is not something I am doing to earn brownie points as a wife.”
We wish the actress all the strength to overcome this huge loss.
