Real Housewives star Guerdy Abraira opens up about breast cancer battle: 'I'm Guerdy 2.0 now.'

Real Housewives of Miami star Guerdy Abraira has spoken out after battling breast cancer.

Abraira, 46, told PEOPLE she was on a trip with a friend when she received a call from her gynecologist, telling her she had breast cancer.

It had been caught "right on time" according to her doctor who told her she wouldn't need chemotherapy.

However a subsequent MRI found the cancer was more advanced than initially thought.

She underwent a lumpectomy and then four sessions of chemotherapy as well as 20 rounds of radiation over the course of five months.

"I was like, 'What else can you pile on? This is the worst thing ever,'" she recalls. "It's a roller coaster you just want to get off of."

Guerdy made the decision to share her breast cancer journey publicly.

"God told me that I'm an ambassador to do it," she shared.

In a recent video shared on Instagram the Real Housewives star explained she'd had here breast implants removed after one shrank during chemotherapy.

"It's so crazy holding up these implants in my hands," she said in the video caption. "Life is a journey and an evolution - for 10 years, I had these implants without issue. Now they are no longer part of my life.

"I made the decision not to replace them as I am in a different place where (for me), they are no longer needed as they never defined me and never will. I was lucky to be able to keep most of my breast tissue after my lumpectomy so don't want this to be compared to others' journey who for many has been much much harder," Guerdy continued.

"Every warrior has their own battle experience and needs to do what's best for their health and peace of mind. Health FIRST…always. And for me right now …it's going 'Au Naturale' baby," she added.

Guerdy completed cancer treatment in 2023 and is focusing on her future, with her husband of 22 years, Russell Abraira, 47, and their sons Miles, 17, and Liam, 11, by her side.

"I'm Guerdy 2.0 now," she says. "Selfish is the way I want to live my life now because I was giving so much of myself to others."
