In one of the more dramatic moments from the 2022 Oscars, Will Smith smacked Chris Rock after the comedian made a comment about his wife Jada Pinkett-Smith.
Chris joked about Jada‘s bald head, suggesting that she should star in a sequel to G.I. Jane, which was a reference to Demi Moore shaving her head for the film.
However, some fans think there may be another reason that Will may have been offended by Chris‘ joke and felt the need to defend Jada.

Jada has been open about her struggles with hair loss in the past. Last year, she opened up about her battle with alopecia and said that she was choosing to put a positive spin on the situation.
“Mama’s gonna have to take it down to the scalp so nobody thinks she got brain surgery or something?,” she captioned an Instagram video. “Me and this alopecia are going to be friends … period!?”
In the video, Jada says, “Now at this point, I can only laugh. Y’all know I’ve been struggling with alopecia and just all of a sudden one day, look at this line right here. Look at that.”
“So it just showed up like that and this is going to be a little bit more difficult for me to hide,” she continued. “So I thought I’d just share it so y’all are not asking any questions.”
She also discussed her hair loss in 2018, sharing that it was “terrifying” when she first started to notice it but she’d learned to embrace the condition over time.
“I was in the shower one day and had just handfuls of hair in my hands and I was just like, ‘Oh my god, am I going bald?’ It was one of those times in my life where I was literally shaking in fear. That’s why I cut my hair, and why I continue to cut it,” Jada said at the time.
Chris had also made a joke about Jada at the 2016 Oscars as well.
