The White Lotus is back for its third season but eagle-eyed fans (or should we say eagle-eared fans) have noticed one significant difference.
The show's iconic theme song – the earworm fans have come to know and love and sing along to every week – has been changed.
The catchy melody and howls in the season one theme song, titled Aloha!, and even the more cinematic remix in season two, titled Renaissance, are nowhere to be heard in the season 3 theme song.
Instead, a new tune has taken its place with some playful woodwind tunes akin to the music you would imagine a medieval jester dancing along to.

Why did The White Lotus change its theme song for Season 3?
While they are different, the theme song for season one and season two of the beloved TV series are melodically similar and instantly recognisable amongst fans.
According to Screen Rant, the theme song of each season is influenced by the show's rotational setting.
The season one theme song Aloha draws influence from it's setting in Hawaii. While the more operatic season two theme song Renaissance is linked to the Sicilian setting of season two.

Season three is set in Koh Samui, Thailand so the theme song may be reflective of Thai music.
The composer drew inspiration from TikTok
Composer Cristobal Tapia de Veer, who wrote all three theme songs, has not yet commented on the change but did previously speak about his inspirations for season 3.
In an interview with Variety he explained that he drew inspiration for the new theme song from TikTok.
"I hear interesting things in TikTok or YouTube sometimes. I think that the best song I heard in the last few years that I can remember is people harmonising to a cat on TikTok," he said.

"There's a cat, and somebody put some piano and then some girls started harmonising, and then there's all these versions harmonising this cat, it's super moving and so spontaneous and fresh that this is grabbing a lot more my attention than super-produced pop music.
"I'm a fan of pop music but it feels like it's been a while that I feel like something has surprised me. So I've been looking a lot into these eight-second bits of music that people [are] putting together and harmonising a cat or stupid, silliest things.

"To me, it's like a gold mine, it's just moving to me. It feels like you are actually in contact with a person."
So perhaps the new theme song is reminiscent of singing cats instead.
When is The White Lotus Season 3 coming out and how many episodes will there be?
The first episode of The White Lotus Season 3 has officially dropped on streaming platform Binge today with each new episode set to drop weekly.
In Australia, each new episode will be available to stream on Mondays from 1pm (AEDT).
There are eight episodes in total expected to drop for the new season with the final episode planned to air on Monday April 7 in Australia.

Which actors are in The White Lotus Season 3 cast?
The new season of the iconic show features a slate of famous faces, including Jason Isaacs, who plays Timothy Ratliff, Parker Posey, who plays Victoria Ratliff and Natasha Rothwell, who plays Belinda Lindsey and featured in the show's first season.
Aimee Lou Wood, known for her role in the Netflix series Sex Education, Thai actress Lek Patravadi and Arnold Schwarzenegger's son Patrick Schwarzenegger also feature in the new series, among others.
Jennifer Coolidge, who starred in both season one and season two, will not reprise her Emmy-winning role of Tanya in the third season.
