Conan O’Brien seemingly cracked a joke about President Donald Trump’s manhood — or lack thereof — during the 2026 Oscars.
“We’re coming to you live from the Has a Small Penis Theatre,” said Oscars host O’Brien, 62, during a return from commercial break during the Sunday, March 15, ceremony.
O’Brien added, “Let’s see him put his name in front of that.”
The joke was a reference to Trump, 79, adding his name to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in December 2025.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said the building would now be called the Trump-Kennedy Center “because of the unbelievable work President Trump has done over the last year in saving the building.”
New signage went up on the building the day after the announcement was made.
As for O’Brien, who actually hosted the Oscars from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, the former late night host wasn’t afraid to get political during his opening monologue.
“There are no British actors nominated for best actor or best actress. A British spokesperson said, ‘Yeah, well, at least we arrest our pedophiles,’” O’Brien said, a reference to the February arrest of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly Prince Andrew, the Duke of York.
Mountbatten-Windsor, 66, was arrested for his connection to convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, to whom Trump has also been linked.
Elsewhere in his monologue, O’Brien referenced the Turning Point USA All-American Halftime Show during the Super Bowl last month, which was organized as counterprogramming to Bad Bunny’s performance at Super Bowl LX.
“I should warn you, tonight could get political,” O’Brien said. “And if that makes you uncomfortable, there’s an alternate Oscars hosted by Kid Rock at the Dave & Buster’s down the street.”
Kid Rock, 55, headlined the Turning Point USA show.

During a virtual press conference on Wednesday, March 11, O’Brien explained the difficult job of emceeing the Oscars in the current political and social climate.
“Hosting this show is a very thin line,” he said. “We’re celebrating movies and the amazing people behind them, but it has to be funny without tipping into anger or politics.”
During his monologue on Sunday night, O’Brien also addressed the current unrest with a hopeful nod.
“We pay tribute tonight not just to film, but to the ideals of global artistry, collaboration, patience, resilience and that rarest of qualities today: optimism,” he said. “Let us, please, celebrate. Let us celebrate. Let us celebrate not because we think all is well, but because we work and hope for better in the days ahead.”
