Denee Benton got in a dig at Florida’s Governor Ron DeSantis while presenting at the 2023 Tony Awards.
The 31-year-old Broadway actress, who stars on HBO’s The Gilded Age, was one of the many presenters on Sunday night (June 11) at the United Palace Theatre in New York City’s Washington Heights.
Denee was there to honor 2023 Excellence In Theatre Education Award winner Jason Zembuch Young of Plantation, Florida.

“While I’m certain that the current Grand Wizard — I’m sorry. Excuse me — governor of my home state of Florida will be changing the name of this following town immediately…” Denee said while introducing the award.
If you aren’t aware, the “Grand Wizard” is the title given to the national leader of the Ku Klux Klan.
FYI: Denee is wearing a Pamella Roland dress.
