Britney Spears and Sam Asghari set to marry in intimate wedding but parents, sister and sons not attending

Pop singer Britney Spears is set to marry long-time boyfriend Sam Asghari today after nearly six years together, a source close to the couple said.

The pair announced their engagement via Instagram in September 2021 but had not disclosed a wedding date.

Two months later, the 'Stronger' singer, 40, was released from a legal conservatorship that had controlled her personal life and finances for 13 years. During court proceedings, she said she longed to get married and start a new family without any restrictions.

According to reports, 100 close friends and family are invited, including Spears' brother, Bryan.

However, it's believed her parents and sister, Jamie Lynn, did not receive invitations after they had a falling out in the lead up to the conservatorship battle.

Two days before news of the wedding made headlines, Jamie Lynn shared a cryptic message about "moral support" on Instagram as she posed with her mother-in-law. 

"Life Hack: Get yourself a MIL who will travel across the world with you for a work trip just to be your moral support?‍♀️?✈️? It takes a village, and I'm thankful for mine," the 31-year-old captioned the photo. 

The soon-to-be newlyweds were over the moon in April when Britney announced that she and Asghari were expecting a baby. However, a month later, the singer said she had suffered a miscarriage.

Britney has been married twice before. She wed childhood friend Jason Allen Alexander in Las Vegas in 2004, but that marriage was annulled a few days later.

That same year, she married dancer Kevin Federline, with whom she had two children. That marriage ended in divorce in 2007.

His lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan spoke to TMZ today to say that the couple's sons Sean, 16, and Jayden, 15, would not be present at today's nuptials.

"Although the boys will not be in attendance, Kevin and the boys are happy for Britney and wish her and Sam all the best going forward," Kaplan said.
