"I got drunk because that's what everyone does at the Logies… and I raced back to my room at three o'clock in the morning thinking the girls from hair and make-up were about to walk in to get me ready to do the Today show.

"I pulled the dress off, ripped the jewellery off and raced in to have a shower before they arrived."

Grimshaw then accidentally mistook the bathroom door for the front door.

"Suddenly, I was naked out in the hallway," she concluded.

In 2022, The Lego Masters Australia host took out the coveted Gold Logie and the Bert Newton Award for most popular presenter during the 2022 awards ceremony.

"Lego Masters is just an escape from everything. And I really bring it down to the contestants and their love and passion for building LEGO," he said at the Logies, which had been on a three-year-long hiatus.

Blake had also won the award back in 2012 for Hamish and Andy's Gap Year.

One Direction turns up to the Logies

You would be challenged to find anyone under the age of 25 who doesn't remember when the biggest boy band of the time graced the Logies stage.

One Direction opened the 2012 event with their biggest hits, Makes You Beautiful and One Thing, causing thousands of teenage girls to swoon.

The group, composed of Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik, gave Australia their best.

Joan Rivers' off-script moment

Joan Rivers Logies

Joan Rivers left the entire audience shocked in 2006 when she presented at the Logies alongside Richard Wilkins.

The actress decided to veer off of the script, saying: "I know you're all famous, I know I'm sitting with important people but I don't know who you are!"

Waleed Aly made a powerful and essential acceptance speech upon winning the Gold Logie in 2016.

"Someone who is in this room, and I'm not going to use the name they use in the industry, came up to me, introduced themselves and said, 'I really hope you win. My name is Mustafa. But I can't use that name because I won't get a job,'" Aly said on stage.

"He's here tonight. And it matters to people like that that I am here. I know it's not because of me. I know that.

She asked the audience and viewers at home to wear a beanie the next day and share a photo with the hashtag #beaniesforbraincancer to raise awareness for the disease and support those struggling with it.

Travel Guides won the Most Popular Lifestyle Program at the 2023 awards, though they almost missed the event.

"We were supposed to be on a Travel Guides trip this weekend. But our guides, who are joining us now, they said, 'No. We can't go on a carefully curated once-in-a-lifetime holiday with thrilling yet risk-assessed and well-insured activities when the Logies are on!'"

"We're so glad we did come," they said.

Bert Newton's on-screen gaffe

Bert Newton was the Logies' biggest star, hosting the event on 19 occasions and never failing to light up the room, well, almost never.

In the late '70s, Newton had the privilege of being taken to the stage by American boxer Muhammad Ali.

Ali had made a guest appearance to present the Gold Logie that year won by Newton when Newton responded to one of the boxer's jokes by saying: "I like the boy".

At the time, the term has negative racial connotations for black Americans.

"I promise you when we find out who out there wins this, it will be a shock," Ali began.

"I like the boy," Newton replied, prompting Ali to ask: "Hold up, hold up, hold up, hold up, hold up, did you say Roy or boy? "

Newton quickly replied: "I like the boy! There's nothing wrong with saying that? Hang on, no, wait, I'll change religion, I'll do anything for you, I don't care! What's wrong with saying that?! I like the boy! I mean, I like the man!"

Karl Stefanovic's post-Logies blunder

Karl Stefanovic had a really fun time at the Logies in 2009. It was so much fun that he appeared a little worse for wear when he hosted the Today Show the next day.

When he went on air, the Channel Nine presenter looked like he was still a few hours away from nursing a hangover. Stefanovic later explained what happened on The Hundred with Andy Lee.

Karl Stefanovic

"Back in 2009, I showed up to work allegedly a little tipsy after a big night at the Logies. Do you think less of me after this?" he asked.

Comedian Tom Walker replied: "There's nothing more charming than doing a job badly. It's good! Turning up hungover to do your job."

Stafanovik clarified: "Just to pick you on one point, I was not hungover. I was still drunk."

Samuel Johnson dedicating his Gold Logie to his sister

In one of the most heart-warming moments in the award show's history, Samuel Johnson dedicated his Gold Logie to his sister, Connie Johnson, who was battling cancer.

"My sister is succumbing finally to the perils of cancer after a three-decade-long tussle," an emotional Johnson said.

"Rather than rolling over, she's going out blazing with an attempted world record for the longest line of coins absurdly.

The brother-and-sister team set up the Love Your Sister charity in 2012, and the Logies moment caused its website to crash as hundreds of viewers rushed to donate.

"Village ... we did it!!! GOLD! Love you, Sam, love this village! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!" Connie posted on Facebook after the win.
