Nadine Lustre Wins Best Actress Award at the 2022 MMFF

Besides Nadine’s win as Lyra, the film Deleter also brought home a number of awards at MMFF’s Gabi ng Parangal

At last night’s Gabi ng Parangal for the 2022 Metro Manila Film Festival, Deleter dominated the awards night with seven recognitions: Best Picture, Best Sound, Best Visual Effects, Best Editing, Best Cinematography, Best Director, and Best Actress. Nadine Lustre and director Mikhail Red graced the occasion to personally receive their awards.

Wearing a Mara Chua number, Nadine thanked her family, friends, her beau Chris, Viva, and the team of Deleter for her new accolade. “Masayang-masaya po kaming lahat na nagbabalik na ang pelikulang Pilipino sa mga sinehan. Mabuhay po ang MMFF at mabuhay ang pelikulang Pilipino,” Nadine said towards the end of her speech.

Nadine is the third actress to win the Best Actress award in a horror film at the festival, 30 years after Gina Pareño’s win in 1992 for the film Shake Rattle and Roll IV.

In her interview with ABS-CBN journalist MJ Felipe, the actress mentioned that their wins were unexpected for the whole team. “Para sa Team Deleter, enough na ‘yung gustuhin siya ng mga Pilipino. Isang malaking-malaking bonus ‘to para sa amin.” She also added that she is now more motivated than ever to create more movies.

Meanwhile, Ian Veneracion won the Best Actor award in his performance for the movie Nananahimik Ang Gabi. The said movie also bagged a number of awards such as Third Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor, Best Production Design, and Best Musical Score.

Mon Confiado, who is part of the film, won the Best Supporting Award, while Dimples Romana received the Best Supporting Actress recognition for the movie My Father, Myself.

Nadine and Ian also won the Stars of the Night award, with both of them going up on stage together.

Watch the entries of 2022 Metro Manila Film Festival in cinemas until January 7, 2023.
