Last night, Kathryn Bernardo received her ninth recognition from the Box Office Entertainment Awards. Wearing a black and white ensemble from Mark Bumgarner, the actress received her “Box Office Queen” title this year for her 2023 film, A Very Good Girl.

Twice the actress achievement
This achievement comes after the announcement of her nominations for the revered award-giving bodies in Philippine cinema—the FAMAS and Gawad Urian. This is Kathryn’s sixth nomination from the former, with a number of her movies bagging nominations as well: Pagpag, She’s Dating the Gangster, Crazy Beautiful You, Barcelona: A Love Untold; and Hello, Love, Goodbye. The 2019 film, where she co-starred with Kapuso actor Alden Richards, gave her her first Gawad Urian nomination.
Considered as Kathryn’s boldest movie to date, A Very Good Girl is another validation of her bankability as an actress. On its opening day, the movie earned PHP 10 million. After national and international premieres, the sales hit more than PHP 100 million.
Before the premiere of Star Cinema’s Rewind in 2023, Hello, Love, Goodbye held the highest grossing film title from 2019 to 2022, with PHP 880 million box office figures. Coming third to date is another film of Kathryn Bernardo, The Hows of Us, earning PHP 810 million.
